SUBMITTED BY POWERGIRL5000. ......And They Rocked The Galaxy!! by "Powergirl 5000" Little could Robert and Louise Cummings know of the impact their sons would have on the world of music. On August 25, 1967 Michael, a brother to little Rob was born. Growing up, the two close boys had quite artistic abilities, and fascinations of the unworldly kind. Mike dabbled into art (attending the School of the Museum of Fine Art) and punk, forming a band called "Vital Interest", which basically gained none. Then in 1990, mutating into MC Spider (adopting a nickname earlier dubbed by his brother, Rob Zombie), released a 12" ep called "Much Evil". Sounding every bit a sign of the times of studio looping, sequencing, sampling, and a DJ, gained him acclaim in local Boston as Best Rap Artist. This popularity forced M C to produce a live act to support the music. With the addition of his two co-workers at Tower Records, Al 3 (Pahanish) on Drums, Dorian 27 (Heartsong) on Bass, then later Adam 12 (Williams) on guitar, and Jordan Cohan on Percussion, formed "Powerman 5000" after a comic strip super hero. (The DJ became history when Adam got in a fistfight with him at their first gig!) A cassette tape called "A Private Little War" containing Neckbone /Standing 8 / Earth vs. Me was released. Around this time major record companies started to gain interest. Most noteably Capitol Records, which later just lost interest! Culminating this Hip Hop / Rap /Metal flavor the "True Force" ep was released in 1994, followed by "The Blood Splat Rating System" in l995. In the fall of '96 they made a major debut by performing live at the first Ozz-Fest, also appearing on the video & cd. In these early days PM5K had been managed by none other than Spider's brother, Rob. As fate would have it, a representitive of newly formed "Dreamworks" (a company formed by Steven Spielberg) heard them and signed them as one of "Dreamworks Records" first bands. In 1997 "Blood Splat...." was remixed and with the addition of "20 Miles to Texas......." and "Mega! Kung Fu...." & new cover artwork, was re-released on "Dreamworks" as "Mega! Kung Fu Radio". 2 videos were released to promote it. "Tokyo Vigilante #1" (which was directed by Rob Zombie) & "Organizized" (which was co-directed by Spider). Meanwhile, the band had packed up and moved from Boston to La La Land. With this move major transformations began to take place! Spider married his partner in artwork & graphics, Dominique. ("Nika" has also done artwork for Rob Zombie, and has appeared in 3 PM5K videos.) Jordan was out and M 33 / Mike Tempesta (brother to John, the drummer of Rob's band), was in on guitar. But more than that began to transpire. Being true to their comic book / Sci-fi image, in July of '99 "Tonight The Stars Revolt!" was blasted onto a musically dead world, supported by the "When Worlds Collide" video, and has since gone platinum. TTSR had also spawned the videos "Nobodys Real" (which was co-directed by Spider), and "Supernova Goes Pop" (which was directed by Spider). After touring non-stop through the summer & fall, they began the 2000's by headlining their own sell out "Rockets & Robots" tour. Continuing to assault as much of the world as possible, they toured with the "Summer Sanitarium Tour" and "Sick & Twisted" and even ventured to Europe & Japan. As of late, the multi talented Spider has diversified himself by starting his own record label, signing long time Boston Pals "Half Cocked" as his first band. Also, fans are eagerly awaiting the release of their home video. Who knows what the future may hold and what unknown territories the fearless 5 of Powerman 5000 may venture into! Stay tuned for more excitement beyond belief!! (Not to be used, in part or whole, without permission or credit! - PG5K)
